Teaching shouldn’t be a solitary activity. Too often, it is. I’m hoping that this blog will help both you and I. You are welcome to come into my classroom. Look around, and see what we’re working on. If you’d like, ask questions, or give some tips. Borrow whatever you’d like. Let me know how you improve on it.
I am a 6th grade Language Arts teacher at an international school in Doha, Qatar. Look at the students in my class, and you might think that we are somewhere in the United States. My students are literally global citizens, having travelled around the world in their short lives thus far, but they are still eleven and twelve-year olds. And the things that are important to my students are probably important to yours: friends, family, sports, hobbies– and having fun on the weekend. I think they’re wonderful, as you think the same of yours. Hopefully, you’ll see in some of them the young writers in your own class.
To quote a phrase from Nigeria, You are Welcome. Please, come in.
