The Battle of Justice
Saanvi Garg, 8
One afternoon in Ratburg, at the castle, Captain Corona, the king, was planning out his evil plan with Spiky The Sidekick, The Deadly Disguiser, and Gus The Gardener.
“Ha, ha, ha!” cried Captain Corona. “We shall destroy the world !” he yelled.
“Yes king, we shall,” Gus said glumly.
“Do not call me king!” he screamed.
Write about what may happen if predator and prey switched places (i.e. if a mouse switched places with a bird, or if a fly switched places with a frog). How would the food chain work? How would the prey feel about becoming a predator? How would the predator feel about becoming the prey? You may switch off perspective or focus on one of the two in a poem, play, short story, or other form of media.
Static
Callum Hicks, 12
The electric blue buzz of the computer screens.
The soft hum of the machines keeping us alive.
An evil cackle of a monster behind me, casting a shadow on the cold concrete.
Snap.
My legs break in half like breadsticks.
The masks I am wearing.
They let me breathe.
Living history as if it’s some sort of consolation.
The shrill voices.
Crackle.
Create a poem with an eerie or creepy tone. You can make the poem as nonsensical or as relatable as possible, but retain the sense of being unsettled throughout.
This is a Monday prompt, so if you are writing your response in the week it was first published, you can submit it to our Weekly Flash Contest, via Submittable!
Coronavirus as a Supervillain
Amruta Krishnan Srinivasan, 9
This drawing was made in response to our Daily Creativity prompt #73, in which former contributor Anna Rowell asked our readers to imagine what Coronavirus would look like if it were a supervillain.
Outside My Window
Prisha Aswal, 7
Outside my window,
Are trees,
And bees.
No one is out,
Because of coronavirus disease.
No crowds,
But clouds,
And a big black dog I see.
I miss what this place used to be.
Look far away there is a house,
From over here, it looks like a mouse.
My other window has a different view,
Squirrels running over the fence! Phew.
Imagine your favorite food as a protagonist in a story. Describe their personality and defining features – are they quiet? Intelligent? Short? Grumpy? The choice is up to you. What do they like to do? Who are their friends? Write “A day in the life” story about them.
Breath Thief
Story Kummer, 13
